Derek, I am so sorry to hear of your passing. You will be forever buried in our hearts. I remember you being funny and smart and artistic. I remember how much you loved your sister and your dogs. I’m sorry that so many years passed since we last saw each other. I hope you know how fondly I’ve always remembered you and always will.

My Son (author unknown),

I thought of you today,
But that is nothing new.
I thought of you yesterday,
And will tomorrow too.

I think of you in silence
And make no outward show.
For what it meant to lose you
Only those who loved you know.

Remembering you is easy,
I do it every day.
It’s the heartache of losing you
That will never go away.

Love always,
