Donna Jean Horning

Donna Jean Horning, 73, of Forest, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022. She was born in Welch, West Virginia on November 8, 1948, daughter of the late Ralph Elwood Gibbs and the late Elizabeth Cleo Gibbs. Donna retired from Virginia Baptist Hospital after working as a registered nurse for 43 years. All of those years being devoted to neonatal care. She was a mentor to many and touched countless lives. A passion even greater than nursing was her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed the beach, reading, home garden tours and shopping for the grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit. She is survived by her loving husband Roger D. Horning to whom she had been married almost 50 years. Donna is also survived by three children, Jeff Horning and wife Shannon, Brian Horning, and Lora Cash and husband Brian; a brother, Bill Gibbs and wife Gail and six grandchildren, Kathan Horning, Kinley Horning, Ethan Horning, Allison Horning, Ava Cash and Ella Cash. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Dr. Derick Hamby officiating. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
