Donna Ophelia Wilson, 86, of Lynchburg went to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2023 following injuries received in an automobile accident. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Sanford R. “Sam” Wilson.
Donna was born in Bangor, Maine, April 16, 1937 a daughter of the late Franklin I. Howland and Elva G. Earl Howland. She married her husband Sam, who was serving in the US Air Force, in 1958 and traveled the world with him throughout his military career. Following his retirement, Donna and Sam moved to Lynchburg and their entire family promptly followed. Donna was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and she and Sam shared a mutual joy singing for the TRBC Choir. Donna loved to travel and spending time with her family was something she cherished.
Donna is survived by her children, Melanie Restrepo and husband Manuel, Kimberly Wilson and husband Dan, Timothy Wilson, and Peter Wilson and wife Julie; seven grandchildren, Cheryl Day (Tony), Courtney King (Michael), Cassidy Totty (Blake) Codey Wilson (Megan), Canaan Wilson, Carrington Wilson (Kirstin) and Trinity Wilson and six great-grandchildren. She is remembered, treasured, dearly loved and sorely missed by many more.
A service celebrating her life and faith will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Thomas Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Les Whealton officiating.
The family will host a reception following the service in the church fellowship hall.
