

Dorothy Louise Staton Sawyer of Lynchburg passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2017, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was 89 years old. Louise loved life, her family, bingo and a good buffet. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Florine Staton and Odessa Staton.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Velma Sparrow and Dale Godsie; one sister, Katie Faulkner and two brothers, Grey Staton and Tinsley Floyd.
She is survived by her daughter, Pat Pribble, her son Lee Luther and his wife Shirley; eight grandchildren, Todd and Maria Pribble, Blake, Julie, Jessie, Kelley, Seneca, John and Megan, who knew her as “Granny Witch”; eight great grandchildren, who knew her as “Granny Wou Wou”; three sisters, Sammie Fowler, Edna Fogle and Mae Guthrie and her husband A.T.; and her special caregiver.
She retired from GE after 32 years of excellent service.
There will be a private graveside service conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Blue Ridge Chapter of the MS Association.
