He was born in Lynchburg on November 13, 1951, son of the late Earl C. Ward, Sr. and the late Irene I. Ward.
Earl was a member and head deacon of Eastbrook Baptist Church and retired Site Supervisor with Campbell County Recreation Department. He had been involved with Campbell County youth programs for over 25 years during which time he worked closely with Dixie Youth League and was a high school umpire in Campbell County. He was very generous with his time, especially offering help to the youth that he coached but his biggest hobby was being Papa to his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Lucy Duffy, Faye Wade and Christina McKinney.
In addition to his beloved wife Leslie, he is survived by 3 children, Michael Ward and wife Audrey, Shana Pierce and husband Shawn and Ricky Ward; 2 brothers, Bobby Ward and wife Tess and David Ward and wife Diana; 2 sisters, Gracie Bagby and Jaunita Ennis and husband Wayne; 5 grandchildren, Olivia Grace, Sophia Rose, Hailey Marie, Christian Izaiah, and Journei Klover.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
