Obituary of Eloise Cooper Maxey
Eloise Cooper Maxey, age 86 of Lynchburg, widow of Robert William Maxey, answered the Lord’s call on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. She was born on September 5, 1931 in Salley, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Clifton Void Cooper and the late Ellie Mae Cooper. In addition to her husband Robert, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, baby Maxey and a sister, Fairy Cooper. She was retired from General Electric after 31 years of service and a member of Lynchburg Church of Christ. Eloise loved her gardening almost as much as she did spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Robert “Bobby” W. Maxey, Jr. and wife Elaine and a daughter, Brenda M. Shrum Evans and husband David. She is also survived by a sister, Marlene C. Rountree as well as eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Ray Eure officiating. Burial will follow at New Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to the Campbell County Rescue Squad, 155 Rainbow Forest Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502
