

Elsie P. Wade, age 90, passed from this life August 19, 2010 following a lengthy period with Alzheimer’s disease. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Wade; father and mother, Rev. Brady and Daisy Privett; sister, Rev. Margie Musselman; and a great grandson, Nathaniel Wade.
She is survived by two children, Roger Wade and wife Phyllis and Lafonda Gunter and husband Alfred Carroll; five grandchildren, Eric, Jared and wife Daphne, and Chaz Wade, and Wyatt and Sara Gunter; and nine great grandchildren, Jonas and Kenzie Gunter, Alaina, Megan, Natalie, Carson and Elliott Wade, Chance Cook and Becklyn Millner. She is also survived by a sister, Flonnie Collie and husband Earl and a brother, H. Ray Privett and wife Debra, and a wonderful sister in Christ, Katherine Plott.
Elsie Wade was a charter member of the Mountain View Church of God and served as treasurer for the church for many years. She also served both locally and statewide for the Women of the Church of God. Elsie opened Wade’s Grocery store during World War II while her husband was in the Army stationed in Germany. She was a great seamstress and would often sing harmony with groups of family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. While we will miss her here, we know that “to be absent from this body, is to be present with the Lord”.
A Celebration of her life will be conducted Monday, August 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Mountain View Church of God with Rev. Lonnie Wickard officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 22, 2010 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Whitten’s Timberlake Chapel as well as one hour prior to services on August 23, 2010. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity or to the Mountain View Church of God Youth.
