
Ethel May Harris, 87, of Evington, died, Saturday, September 5, 2010, at The Carrington. She was the wife of the late Garland G. Harris. Born January 2, 1923, in Concord, she was the daughter of the late Otis Booth and Lila Atwell Mills Booth.
Mrs. Harris was a retired seamstress for Dale Garment and a member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by one son, Charles Luther Harris; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Harris and eight siblings.
Mrs. Harris is survived by five children, Charlotte H. Watts of Lynchburg, Shelby Jean Daniel and her husband Rickey of Altavista, Garland Gerald Harris, Jr. of Lynchburg, Gary Otis Harris of Forest and Doris Gay Harris of Evington; two brothers, Luther Booth of Lynchburg andHenry Booth and his wife Helen of Lynchburg; one sister Ruby Ferguson and her husband Tucker of Appomattox; daughter-in-law, Sandra Harris and her husband Bill of Madison Heights; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted, 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Dwight Weaver, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends, one hout prior to the service, Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence of Doris Harris.
