Fletcher Loyd Harris

Fletcher Loyd Harris, 81, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, May 06, 2010, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Shirley Ballard Harris. Born August 31, 1928 in Madison Heights, he was the son of the late Clinton Walter and Frankie Beard Harris.

Mr. Harris was a sergeant in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War, and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Harris is preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Harris and one sister, Mary Jane Lerner.

Mr. Harris is survived by one daughter, Sheryl Harris of Lynchburg and one son, Walter Harris of Petersburg.

A funeral service will be held, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Glynn A. Coleman officiating. Interment will be private at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
