Florence Bates Tyree

She was born on September 2, 1932 in Campbell County, daughter of the late William Nathan Bates and Maggie Walthall Bates.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Hall.

Survivors include three children, Debbie T. Rae and husband Glen of Myrtle Beach, SC, Dale Tyree of Lynchburg, and Danny C. Tyree and fiancé Leigh Hensley of Forest; sisters, Gilda B. Donald of Forest and Courtney B. Franklin of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Dana Allcock, April Bauserman, Brittney Tyree and Hannah Tyree; six great grandchildren; and her special friend and caregiver, Teresa Allen.

Florence was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church. She loved people especially children. Her greatest love however, was the tremendous love she had for her family.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1022 Commerce Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504.
