Frances Moorefield Hedrick

Frances Moorefield Hedrick, 87 of Lynchburg, VA, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family at The Summit on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. She was the wife of the late Gordon David Hedrick. Frances was born on January 26, 1937 in Campbell County, daughter of the late James Douglas Moorefield and Gertrude Moorefield. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church on Timberlake Road and served on numerous committees. She was the owner and operator of “The Total Look” Hair Salon in Lynchburg. She enjoyed volunteering at her church, working in the garden, time with her friends, but mostly time with her family was where she wanted to be. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Jean M. Green and Glennie M. Ewing; a brother, Vincent G. Moorefield and a grandson, Brandon Wayne Hedrick. Frances is survived by two sons, Philip G. Hedrick and his wife Robin of Concord, and Karl D. Hedrick and his wife Catherine of Evington; her grandsons, William D. Milton, Karl M. Hedrick and his wife Brooke, Daniel G. Hedrick and Bryan E. Hedrick; her three great-granddaughters, Kaley Hedrick, Brianna Hedrick, and Maggie Hedrick; one great-great granddaughter, Victoria Hedrick and numerous nieces and nephews as well as a very dear friend of 50 years, Norma Tuggle. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church, 20957 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg with Dr. Louis Beckwith, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 10:00 am. A private interment will be held at a later date at Fort Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Frances’s name.
