Born on June 17, 1917, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Odelle P. Blankinship.
Frances’s life was one of love and devotion to family, friends, and community. She will be remembered as a gracious hostess, always wishing her home and her hospitality to be warm and welcoming. During her earlier years she engaged in many community activities, often helping to prepare banquets and meals for service organizations. She was a member of Rustburg United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Eastern Star and Rustburg Woman’s Club. Frances spent many years actively involved as a volunteer and PTA member in the local school.
She had many of the traits that signal longevity- a positive spirit, an interest in others, an active mind, and a sense of pride. She lived independently into her 90’s, driving, managing her home, and keeping up with current events. She often commented that she never really felt as if she were old.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Lynch and husband James of Fayetteville, GA, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
The family would like to send a special thank you to her longtime caregivers, Shana Montgomery and Susan Oxner, as well as to the staff of Centra Hospice for their caring and compassion during Frances’s illness.
A graveside service will be held at Cumbie Memorial Cemetery in Rustburg on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at 3 pm with Pastor Sung Woon officiating.
The family will be receiving friends anytime at her home on 279 Rocky Road, Rustburg, VA.
