

Franklin Delano Scott, 73, of Forest left this life on Friday, February 8, 2008, at the University of Virginia Hospital. He was known to many as “Billy” or “Scotty”.
Born in Goodwins Ferry, March 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Atlas Burnette Scott and the late Ollie Comer Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James B. Scott and Alvin “Buddy” Scott and two sisters, Edith S. Fleeman and Dorothy S. Sexton.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Okes Scott; two sons, Jed L. Scott and his wife, Delores, of Tucson, AZ and Gary D. Scott and his wife, Melissa, of Pembroke; a daughter, Tammy S. King and her husband, John, of Yorktown; four brothers, J.W. Scott of Forest, Bobby Scott of Blacksburg, Denny Scott of Ironto and Roy A. Scott of Pearisburg; two sisters, Irene S. McCoy of Blacksburg and Marie S. Hubbard of Three Rivers, MI and four beautiful grandchildren, Travis M. Scott, Afton P. Scott, J. Scott King and Tori A. King.
In March of 1959, with his bride in tow, he came to Lynchburg as entrepreneur of several gas stations in the Lynchburg area. He later worked as owner/manager of Brentwood Mobile Home Park for 38 years, retiring in 1998. Scotty loved people and life and was a friend to everyone he met.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by Mr. Frank E. Landrey. Entombment will follow in the Virginia Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
