Gayle Gregory Clark

February 15, 1947January 12, 2021

Gayle Gregory Clark, 73, stepped into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ today, surrounded by her family at home.

She is survived by her husband of 55 plus years, Stacy Clark; four daughters, Joy Bowles (Gerald), Kristi Schmincke (Dale), Valerie Wall (Scott) and Brenda Smith (Alex); ten grandchildren, Josh, Caleb, Olivia, Ethan, Jacob, Brody, Haley, Blair, Savannah and Sullivan; two great grandchildren, Bryson and Marlee and her aunt, Violet Wilbur.

She was born to the late Frank and Margaret Gregory. Gayle worked as a magistrate in the 24th district for many years, then worked at Liberty University and Centra Health until dementia made it impossible for her to work any longer.

A longtime member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, Gayle loved singing in the choir and attending the Ladies Bible Study with her dear friend Carolyn Tinsley. Gayle loved going on Royal Caribbean cruises and going to Myrtle Beach or just riding in the car on a warm day.

We would like to thank Centra Hospice and all of the great hospice nurses, Lindsey, Ellen, Sheila and all of the rest of the hospice girls for all of their help during this difficult time in our life. We also thank the wonderful staff at the Carrington for their care during Gayle’s time there. Due to COVID-19, there will be no service. We plan to have a Celebration of Gayle’s life at a later date.

Wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Honey, you will forever be in our hearts. We love You! See you soon.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Gayle’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association,

Dear family, While we have never met, I met Gayle through the Women's Bible studies at Thomas Road. She was a part of my table and I enjoyed getting to know her. She was a beautiful lady and we had a wonderful time during the semester. I am so sorry for your loss. Much love and prayers to your family during this time. Kris R.

I am so sorry to hear of Gayle’s passing but know she is in the church triumphant! Gayle was a friend for many years and I enjoyed sitting and talking with her on her front porch and carport in the early evenings. I know she will be missed by her family. I will remember fondly the vibrant woman she was before her illness!

Stacy and family,

So saddened to see Gayle's death in the paper. She was a beautiful soul, and always so much fun. I hope Bill Montgomery was at the gate when Gayle made her entrance. What a great reunion for two old friends that will be! He always enjoyed working with her. Please know that you are all in my prayers. This first year of all the special days is tough, but God is by your side and He will hold you close. Love to you all.
