

Born on July 1, 1917, in Claudsville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Green Joyce and Bertie Martin Joyce. She was a retired beautician and a charter member of Mayberry Presbyterian Church since 1948. She was an excellent cook and famous for her seven layer coconut cake. She really enjoyed being with family and entertaining all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Fred Coy Shelor; and seven sisters, Lois Fain, Lenace Hughes, Ocie Williams, Pauline Craddock, Audrey Joyce, Mae Joyce and Roberta Patterson.
She is survived by her daughters, Becky Briddell and husband, Jim, of Kingsport, TN and Judy Elliott of Gladys; five grandchildren, Tim McKanna, Kim McCanna, Tres Elliott and wife Robin, Chris Elliott and wife Karen, Beth Ellikidis and husband Phil; five great-grandchildren, Carter Elliott IV, Winston Elliott, Calista McCanna, Sam Elliott and Isabel Elliott; her beloved neighbor, Jackie and friends, Ron and Pat, that she loved deeply; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
