Cathy and Leland,

I am so sorry to learn that your Mother has died. What a beautiful woman! I always enjoyed working school events when your Mom or Dad were involved. They both contributed so much to LCS and our students.

Please know I am thinking of you both. May special memories bring a smile to your face in the upcoming days.

My memories of Mrs.Melvin was the unconditional love Mr. and Mrs. Melvin had for one another. She was so beautiful inside and out. Everytime I talked to her over the years it was always pleasant!

Mrs Melvin was my Jr High Home Economics teacher. I recently found my notes for making the perfect biscuit. She helped me sew my corduroy band uniform, and other, rather complicated clothing. She made class fun and interesting, and was always kind. Later, I enjoyed becoming friends with her daughter Cathy (sending special love!). My mother taught with Mr Melvin, and I believe our brothers may have played on the same ball team. I will remember Mrs Melvin fondly. and will pray for all those who have loved and lost her.
We know she is well with her God+

Leland , Kathy and family, Your loss is heaven's gain! I have so many memories of Grace . Your parents were the first friends to my husband, Les and me. Deems, Grace and Kathy visited often so that our daughter, Valerie and Kathy could play. We all had such a great time. Ten or more couples gathered at the Clubhouse.. such an amazing time : dancing, laughing and shooting the breeze. Most of us were employees of the Lynchburg School System; thus there was never a dull moment. Please accept my love and warm condolences.
