

Hans Edward Brooks Jr., 70, of Lynchburg, known to his friends and family as “Eddie Bo”, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Virginia Baptist Hospital surrounded by his family after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 20, 1943 to the late Hans Brooks Sr. and the late Virginia Adell Brooks Massie, Eddie was the devoted husband of Sandra Kay Brooks.
In addition to his wife, Eddie is survived by his sons, Gary Brooks and wife Kathy of Forest and William Brooks and wife Michelle of Suffolk, a step-daughter Andrea Lloyd and husband Jody of Amherst, 8 grandchildren whom he adored, a brother Larry Brooks and his wife Cassandra of Madison Heights and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was predeceased by a brother, Danny Brooks and his step-father, Luther Massie
Eddie enjoyed woodworking and singing karaoke. He was a member of both the American Legion Post 16 and the Moose Lodge 715, where he served in various capacities including Lt. Governor over the past year.
Eddie worked for several local companies including Simplimatic for 23 years and retired from Southern Air in 2004. He was also a member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday January 15th, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel at 11:00 am by the Rev. Dr. R. A. Daily officiating with interment to follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday January 14th, 2014 at the funeral home and at other times at the residence, 4631 Golf Park Dr, Lynchburg.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Oncology Unit at Lynchburg General Hospital and Virginia Baptist Hospice for their love and care.
