I met Dr. Willmington at a Prophecy Conference in Lancaster, Pennsylvania many years ago. We chatted awhile at the book table. He was very pleasant. It was an honor to have met him. I never forgot him and bought his extremely handy, Wilmington's Guide to the Bible. I still have my copy and still use it. It's Nov.7, 2020.

I am one of Dr. Willmington's
earliest graduates of LHBI
i.e. early 1970s. His teaching
was so clear, understandable,
and enjoyable. I count him as
one of my very best professors
ever. I've thought of him over the years and have regularly prayed for him. I belatedly heard of his passing and now is resting with Our Lord. God Bless all of his loved ones.
I remain.

I once went through my fathers closet after he had passed away and found a stack of audio tape books with the title “liberty home bible institute “.......I was raptured by dr Wilmington’s voice and couldn’t stop listening and never was such a great light shown upon my dark and uneducated Christianity. Thank God for him.....he was my theological beacon and biblical translator. God truly planted a marker in the ages when He chose Dr Wilmington to point the way for His sheep.

I can remember hearing a class lecture by Dr. Willmington and thinking what a biblical phenomenon. With as much biblical depth that he possessed, he still was able to deliver the word with such practicality that even the baby christian could appreciate biblical riches. The most profound thing that I remember him teaching in evangelism to help us be able to teach others is, " All we are is one group of beggars telling another group of beggars where we found bread!"

Dr. Willmington, Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant!

I met Dr. Willmington at my graduation last year, 2018, at Thomas Road Baptist Church. I am one of the students that graduated from Theology at the Willmington School of the Bible. I had the privilege of meeting, in person, the man whose book, Willmington Guide to the Bible, I spent countless hours reading and studying. I am honored to be a graduate of a program that he started, and utilized his guide as an integral resource. He said at the graduation that this might be the last one that he attends. He was right...I didn't know that he passed away. I was looking at my diploma and thought of him. I decided to call LU today to inquire about him. The representative told me that he passed away.

To the Willmington family, my sincerest condolences.

We met at the Bible Institute and attended the last two semesters as husband and wife, graduating in 1983. It was a wonderful time in our lives, and being under Dr. Willmington's daily teaching has been one of the highlights of our life together. We have never met anyone who loves the Word of God more than Dr. Willmington, and we greatly respect him for his testimony. We also remember his sense of humor. Through the years we have often spoken of him and reflected on things we learned from him, not just what he taught from the Bible but the kind of man he was. While we were his students, he had his 50th birthday, and shared with the class that reaching that age made him wonder if he had done enough with his life, which we think showed the depth of his humility. He will not be forgotten.

I am with deepest sympathy on the awareness of Dr. Willmington's passing. I was a part of the final graduating class of the Liberty Home Bible Institute program. I had the esteemed honor of meeting Dr. Wilmington at graduation ceremony as well experiencing some private conversation time of which I shall never forget. His teaching impacted my life and my ministry more than any other degreed program or study that I have ever had. Being a musician myself, I especially enjoyed his references to the hymns of our faith and how he so perfectly connected them with the topic of discussion. I wanted to send him a personal letter of thanks for his mentorship and what he has imparted to me. This memorial message will serve as such. Thank you Dr. Willmington for your dedication to the Lord and your role as a "teacher to the teachers" that you have been to thousands upon thousands. I pray that I may be a vessel that would carry on and be a distributor of your wisdom, humor, passion and insight. -Dr. Mark Plegge. Youngstown, Ohio.

While living in Roanoke, VA in 1973, Dr. Willmington came to teach "Evening School of the Bible." This was by far one of the best classes I have ever taken. I still have my notebook from that year and still refer to it. So grateful for this man. Prayers for the family.

Dr. Willmington preached my ordination 22 years ago, was my professor for several classes, and was an immeasurable influence on me. What a powerful force for the Gospel this man was! I was unaware of his passing, but I rejoice that this child of God- who was a champion for the Word of God- is now in the presence of the Son of God! Thank you, Doc, for investing in the preacher boys like me. Every time I've ever stepped into a pulpit, your influence- and your love of the Scripture- has been there with me.

Doc has been one of my greatest influences as a believer and a pastor. He was a godly, humble man of God and a true hero of the faith. I am thankful to be a 1983 graduate of the Bible Institute and proud that he was also my friend. I will always remember my last visit with him two years ago and will pray for Mrs. Sue, Matt, and the family in the days to come. May the Lord bless you all and give you His best!
