Obituary of Harold Bell Wright
Harold Bell Wright, 72, of Lynchburg passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015. Born November 6, 1942, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Alex M. Wright and the late Annie Blunt Wright. Harold resided on Seabury Avenue in Lynchburg for most of his life. Harold was a sales representative for Roberts Piano Company for 38 years, where he became well known for his piano and organ playing. He played at many churches including Perkins Park Christian, Fairview Christian, Memorial Christian, Fairview Methodist and others. He also played for many weddings and funerals. Harold also served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Harold was a friend to everyone he met and he enjoyed spending time with friends and at the many churches he has the privilege of playing in. His love of music was very evident in the many types of music he played from jazzy numbers to church music and classical music. Most of the time he did not need music to follow – he just knew it! He loved playing the piano and the organ for others to enjoy. He was a kind and giving person who always was smiling in spite of health problems he had. Harold had many friends in churches all over central Virginia because of his ties with Roberts Piano Company and his musical talents that he enjoyed sharing. Harold was preceded in death by his brother, Winston, and he is survived by his sister, Shelvy W. Roberts and her husband Melvin of Madison Heights. He is also survived by his close family of friends: Jimmy and Barbara Blunt, Michael Wright, Jo and T.J. Matthews, Tommy Morrison, Bill Stiffler, Bill Boring and Don Toms and his family including Laura, Nicholas and Stephanie, Peyton and Grace Toms, Somer, Ryan, Jeremy and Christi, Sarah and Jacob Toms; as well as many other friends from his music ministry. Visitation with family and friends will take place at College Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with the Rev. Andrew P. Grose officiating with a reception immediately after the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will take place in Fort Hill Memorial Park after the reception at the church.
