
Harry William Hendricks, Sr., 70, of Lynchburg passed away Friday, June 12, 2015, at his residence. He was the husband of Phyllis Layne Hendricks. Born December 29, 1944, in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Laura Elizabeth Hendricks.
Harry was a retired security officer for Richmond Security Systems and he also worked for Burruss Lumber Company. Harry was a member of Campbell Avenue Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in by one brother, Walter Hendricks.
In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by his children, Harry W. Hendricks, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Lynchburg, Frank W. Hendricks and his wife Beth of Gladys and Brenda G. Lucky of Lynchburg; five siblings, Harold Hendricks and his wife Sharon of Altavista, Thomas W. Hendricks and his wife Josephine of Campbell County, Charles Hendricks of Appomattox County, Marie Hilbert of Castlewood and Phyllis Ann Hamm and her husband Allen of Amherst; six grandchildren, Michael Chewning, Laura Pierce, Victor Lucky, Jr., Amber Hendricks, Alexis Hendricks and Harry William Hendricks, III; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel with Dr. Melvin Campbell and Pastor J. Mike Dodson officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2015, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the needs of the family.
