

Born on November 23, 1953 in Camp Lejeune, NC he was the son of Edith Godsey Trent and the late Paul Lindberg Trent.
Harry retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Master Gunnery Sgt (MGST) with 24 years of service. He was a philanthropist for Special Olympics and participated in the Polar Plunge for 15 years. Harry was employed by the Department of Corrections for 18 years as a correctional officer and before he retired he was promoted to Hearings Officer at Green Rock Correctional Center. He was a sports enthusiast but he also enjoyed many other things such as music, helping people and volunteering. His most prized possession was his family, which he loved dearly and Harry will be missed by all who knew him.
Harry is survived by his mother, Edith G. Trent of Madison Heights; his wife, Tina Tyree of Lynchburg; his daughter, Tara Peterson and grandchildren, Samuel and Oliver Peterson, all of Bethlehem, GA; four brothers, Paul Trent (Sheila), Glenn Trent, Steven Trent, and Timothy Trent (Tina) all of Madison Heights; two sisters, Debbie Trent Canody (William) and Lori Trent both of Madison Heights; two nephews, Travis and Trevor Trent; five nieces, Lori Vogel, Kristina Floyd, Cecily Almond, Zoe Trent, and Willow Trent all of Madison Heights; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Military Honors will be presented by the United State Marine Corps Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots, 314 Graves Mill Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24502.
