Born in Lynchburg, December 14, 1945, he was the son of the late Harvey D. Elliott, Sr. and Scotty Faulconer Elliott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea Lynn Elliott; his brother Scott Jeffress “Jeff” Elliott; and three half-sisters, Virginia Bowen, Ethel Rew and Jean Baynes.
Rusty was a 1964 graduate of E.C. Glass High School and was a 1968 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science where he was a member of the Pi Sigma Eta Fraternity. He enjoyed a successful career as a funeral director with Whitten Funeral Homes for 39 years until his retirement in 2003.
Rusty was actively involved in his community. He was a Chevalier in the International Order of DeMolay, a member of the Lynchburg Valley Scottish Rite, a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Kazim Clown Unit.
He was also a member of the Lynchburg Shrine Club where he served as president from 1978 – 1979. A member of the Lynchburg Royal Arch Chapter #10 and the Edward N Eubank Masonic Lodge # 262. He was a US Army veteran and member of the Virginia National Guard.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Harvey D. “Doug” Elliott, III and his wife Sarah.
A Memorial Service celebrating Rusty’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Celebrant Polly Starnes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
