Obituary of Helen Obrastoff Tulintseff
Helen Obrastoff Tulintseff, age 97 of Daleville, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024. The daughter of Russian immigrants, Helen was born on May 23, 1927 in Edmonton, Alberta. Her Father’s search for employment led the family to Ponoka where he became a constable with the RCMP and later joining the Canadian army in 1939 and posted in Europe. Helen met and married Alex Tulintseff in Seattle and they raised two children together. Helen also worked with the school district in the art department. After retiring, Helen volunteered at the Seattle Science Center giving tours of the First Nation West Coast Longhouse. Helen loved the beauty of the church and was a long-time volunteer at St. Spiridon’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral. She was also known for hosting a beautiful Easter table with all the traditional foods. Helen’s grandchildren loved going to Baba’s and Dyeda’s because there was always something good to eat. In her later years, Helen moved to Lynchburg to be closer to family. Helen enjoyed knitting and she knitted dozens of baby sweaters for family, friends and charities. Helen was a “chatterbox” according to her kindergarten teacher during a parent-teacher conference. That never changed. Helen loved to talk and tell interesting and humorous stories. She was an enthusiastic conversationalist and would often interrupt others. When she interrupted, our family affectionately referred to it as “stealing the ball and running with it.” We all loved her and will miss her. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alex; son, Nicholas; brother, Andrew and son-in-law, Lee Morgan. She is survived by brothers Victor Obrastoff, Igor and Valerian Obrastsoff-Rutinsky; her daughter, Nena; grandchildren Keith Morgan (Khristina); Nadja Barthès (Arnaud) and four great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Henry Morgan, Léonie and Luka Barthès and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. George Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Joseph Birthisel officiating. Helen will be interred in Seattle, WA next to her husband, son and her beloved mother, Nadine Obrastoff.
