Hilda Tuck Dalton, born March 25, 1930, of Lynchburg, went home to be with her Lord, May 21st, after a 7 year long battle with Myasthenia Gravis. She was the wife of the late Floyd W. Dalton and the awesome mother to Larry Dalton and his wife, Marla, Selma, N.C. and Rita Eagle and her husband, Tommy, of Lynchburg. Hilda was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Dalton, who was waiting with open arms for her mama to arrive in heaven. Hilda was the sweetest and kindest grandmother and she would often say to them “I love you more than I can say” or “I love you more than cotton candy”. One of her favorite things to do with those she loved was to sign “I love you”. Grandchildren/Great Grandchildren that mourn the loss of their granny are Kevin Eagle and Tee Eagle, Lynchburg, Adam, Sierra and Elijah Dalton, of Selma, N.C., Jason and his wife, Missy and their son, Zach Dalton, of Rockhill, S.C. and Lara Dalton of NV. Hilda is preceded in death by her parents, Loyd Fenton Tuck and Glady Coleman Tuck; brothers Aubrey and Ronnie Tuck and sister, Margaret Hunt. She is survived by a brother, Mack Tuck of Nathalie and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Hilda loved music and sang in bands around Lynchburg with her husband for many years. She enjoyed dancing and traveling. She bowled in leagues in Lynchburg, was a member of the Happy Hearts and Red Hats. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Concord. She loved baseball and was the Braves biggest fan. Hilda never met a stranger and had so much love and joy in her that she made everyone smile when they were around her. She was a Beautiful Lady, inside and out.
She fought this difficult disease that eventually left her an invalid but she was taken care of by the best. For a year and a half her daughter, Darlene, cared for her along with her care giver Carol Elliott. Janice Privette, Jessica and Tammy took wonderful care of her in the last 6 months. Hilda’s family sends their love and heartfelt “Thank You” to all for the care shown to their mom and grandmother as they gave her the best care anyone could have received. In addition, the family is so grateful to Dr. Khourey for always being by her side and for being the best doctor to her. Thanks to Dr. Sutherland of UVA and Dr. Pletke, Holly and Sheila with Hospice for their care of her.
The family requests that those wishing to make memorial contributions, please consider the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, 355 Lexington Ave., 15th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10017.
A Celebration of Hilda’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Reverend David Heerspink, officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
