

James Donwell Brunson, 79, of Lynchburg passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Mae Brunson. Born June 14, 1937, in Beaumont, TX, he was the son of the late Curtis and Mamie Brunson.
James was a retired supervisor for Georgia Pacific Corporation, where he served for 29 years. He was also a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, where he very much enjoyed serving as an usher for 10 years. James also was a supervisor/dispatcher, for 10 years, of drivers for several car dealerships.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Brunson.
In addition to his wife, Mae, James is survived by three children, Kathy Chandler and her husband Mike of Red Oak, TX, David Gunter and his wife Gwen of Madison Heights, and Vickie Tyree and her husband Jim of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2016, at Thomas Road Baptist Church – Pate Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Road Baptist Church.
