James "Pete" Wyatt Wood

Born July 20, 1928 in Madison Heights, he was the son of the late James Henry and Dolly Belle Wood and was also preceded in death by one grandson, Richard G. Walker and two brothers, Carroll E. Wood and Alfred H. Wood. Pete was a retired service manager with John P. Hughes Motor Company with forty-six years of service and was also a retired Master Sergeant with the Virginia National Guard with twenty years of service.

Pete is survived by his son, David B. Wood and wife Patricia of Goode; his daughter, Barbara W. Millner and husband Darrell of Reston; five grandchildren, Russell L. Adams and wife Lisa, Timothy D. Adams and wife Kelly, Elric S. Millner and wife Rebecca, Jessica L. Wood, and Philip I. Walker and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon), Friday, May 16, 2014 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Charles Willoughby officiating.

Following the graveside, a Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charles Willoughby officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Campbell County Rescue Squad or Centra Hospice, 2097 Langhorne Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
