Born in Wainfleet, Ontario, Canada she was the daughter of the late Ben Berg Sr., and Violet Berg.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Melvin Childress; three brothers and two sisters; her brother-in-law, Virgil Campbell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Loretta and Alva Lloyd and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, June and Henry Nash.
Janet was retired from General Electric.
Janet is survived by her sisters-in-law, Joyce Campbell, Patricia Guthrie and Sandra Jamerson and husband Jim and a number of nieces and nephews.
