Janet was born on July 25, 1957, in Lynchburg, Virginia where she lived her whole life. She is preceded in death by her parents Percy Douglas and Annie “Ruth” (McFall) Ewers, her brother Thomas “Tommy” Ewers, and her daughter Jamie Leigh Johnson.
She was a devoted member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church where she sang in and briefly directed the choir. Janet also greatly enjoyed playing the handbells. In addition, she was the Director of Music at Madison Heights Christian Church for a number of years. Janet also was a member of the Teena Lee singers.
Janet is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years David, son Phillip, daughter Christina (Jon), and sister Martha Cadd. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
The family will be receiving guests at Whitten Timberlake Chapel from 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, with a celebration of life to follow at 1:00 p.m. Janet will be interned at Fort Hill Memorial Park after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to the Music Department at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church. They also cherish your prayers during this time.
