Born April 25, 1923, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Willie Parrish Hutcherson, Sr. and Stella Waller Hutcherson. She was also predeceased by her husband of almost 60 years, Carlton M. Moyer; two brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Godsie and husband Mervin of Lynchburg; one son, Carlton (C.M.) M. Moyer, Jr. and wife Penny of Fredericksburg, VA; four grandchildren, Kristin Kane and husband Mike of Columbia, SC, Karen Macko and husband Jeff of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Craig Godsie and wife Heather of Lynchburg, Nathan Godsie of Lynchburg, VA; one sister-in-law, Dale Hutcherson of Midlothian, VA; eleven great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ryan, and Brendan Kane, Paige and Kate Macko, Ambria, Trever, Caden, and Jaxon Godsie, and Makenzie and Logan Royal; and many nephews and nieces and great-nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Moyer was a member of Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church and retired from accounting for the family business, Moyer Transfer. She loved to work outside with flowers and shrubs and scouring through antique shops wherever she went. And what an avid baseball fan she was. But, she loved America’s team, the Atlanta Braves, most of all. Every spring she enjoyed making many varieties of jellies and jams to be enjoyed by anyone who would like to take some home. Gatherings for celebrating holidays and special occasions were always at her house, where some of the best home cooking could be enjoyed.
Private graveside services for immediate family will be conducted at Fort Hill Memorial Park by Pastor William Burleigh of Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church.
