Jeanne Trent Cyrus, aged 99, a beloved member of the Campbell County community, passed away on January 21, 2024. Born in Campbell County, Virginia, to the late Clarence Trent and Lucille Pleasants Trent, Jeanne lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished moments.
Jeanne dedicated many years of her life to the Campbell County School System, where she worked as a bookkeeper at Brookville Middle School until her well-deserved retirement. Her commitment to education left a lasting impact on the lives of those she served.
A faithful member of Marsh Memorial Methodist Church, Jeanne found solace and community in her faith. She was an avid Virginia Tech Football fan, cheering passionately during games, especially when her grandson was on the field. Her love for John Wayne movies and the music of Conway Twitty brought her immense joy.
Jeanne had a talent for the culinary arts, delighting her family and friends with specialties like mac and cheese, peanut butter fudge, banana pudding, veggie soup, pound cakes, and salmon cakes. She cherished the simple pleasures of life, including fishing, crochet, and knitting.
Jeanne's devotion extended to her family, leaving behind two sons, G. Wayne Cyrus (Kelly), Glenn Allen Cyrus (Carmen), and one daughter, Sandra C. Grogan (Mark). She also leaves loving memories for her eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and extended family, along with special friends Betty Arthur, Vicky Yost, and Wendall Yost. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Glenn A Trent, and a sister Evelyn White.
A visitation in remembrance of Jeanne will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, in Lynchburg, Virginia, from 6 pm to 8 pm. The Celebration of Life service will take place at Marsh Memorial Methodist Church on 804 Leesville Road in Lynchburg at 11:30 am, with Pastor Bill Burleigh officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park, 5196 Fort Ave, in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The family expresses gratitude to the Amedisys Hospice Care Team for their compassion, knowledge, and care. Special thanks are also extended to a longtime special friend of the family, Karen Maddox. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lyn-Dan Heights Fire Department, 578 Lawyers Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
