

John A. Cassidy, Jr. (Jack), 70, passed peacefully on October 7, 2022 after battling Lewy Body Dementia for 6 ½ years. He was born December 11, 1951 to the late John Ambrose Cassidy, Sr. and Alice Kelly Cassidy. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carey, as well as his sister, Janet C. Bates and two brothers, Joseph K. Cassidy and James W. Cassidy.
Jack graduated from E. C. Glass High School, where he played baseball and football. He also studied at Hampden-Sydney College. While in the U.S Army, Jack served in the ASA as a Cryptologic traffic analyst. He loved to fish, was an avid runner, as well as an umpire and football official for VHSL. Following his passion for sports, Jack coached and umpired Little League Baseball for many years. He could often be found at a baseball field, golf course or tennis court, happily watching and rooting on his boys and later his grandchildren. Jack taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of Tree of Life Ministries.
Jack is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Nelie Chambers Cassidy, sons Neal, Brad and Taylor (Angela) as well as treasured grandchildren Dellon, Mason, and Sophie.
