

Born October 2, 1932, in Campbell County, he was a son of the late Jessie R. Coles Sr. and Nettie Monroe Coles. He was also preceded in death by a brother, David G. Coles Sr.
Mr. Coles was a United States Army veteran, having served in Germany, at the time of the Korean War. He was retired from Archer Creek Foundry, after 48 years of service. He attended Tree of Life Ministries, and centered his life around his family.
Survivors include five children, Ann Coles, of Lynchburg, Sophia D. Crews, and Leroy Crews, both of Madison Heights, Penny Vest and husband Roy, of Lynchburg, and William L. Coles and wife Kathy, of Alfred, ME; two brothers, Jessie R. Coles Jr., of Modesto, CA, and H.L. “Roy” Coles and wife Georgia, of Lynchburg; a sister, Frances Young, of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Angel Crews, of Madison Heights, Lynette Lotts, of Lynchburg, Dawn Purvis, of Madison Heights, and Sarah Porter, of Norway, ME, six great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 4, 2012, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012, at the mausoleum chapel, in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
