

John H. Foster, 85, of Lynchburg, died Monday, February 15, 2016. He was born in Brookneal, VA to the late Richard E. and Mary B. Foster. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty C. Foster and by 2 brothers. He is survived by a daughter, Kellye F. Marker (Daryl) of Richmond, VA, a son, Harold Foster of Colonial Heights, VA, a brother, Sidney Foster(June) of Brookneal, VA, a granddaughter and great-granddaughter of Richmond, VA.
John served 2 years in the U.S. Army (having been stationed in Iceland) after which, he returned home and graduated from Lynchburg College. He worked as an insurance adjuster for State Farm Ins. Company and retired from there in 1992.
He served as a Deacon and was a Trustee at Covenant Presbyterian Church where he was a member for many years. John was an avid sports enthusiast. He played on the Church league’s softball team for many years and also played volleyball for various REC leagues. He will be especially remembered for his love of baseball.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February, 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Covenant Presbyterian Church on Melinda Drive in Lynchburg. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Parkinson’s research or a charity of one’s choice.
