

Born December 13, 1955 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Heywood Sterling and Ellen Jenkins Maddox. John was a retired carpenter and a member of Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church.
John is survived by his son, John Travis Maddox; brother, Al Maddox and wife, Mary; grandson, Johnathon Travis Maddox; aunt, Hilda Maddox Blair and husband, Ralph, all of Lynchburg; nephew, Keelan Maddox of New York City, NY and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Stuart Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 p.m.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all of the wonderful and caring members of the medical community for their care and support for all of these years and also to the Home Health Nurses and to John’s Goddaughter’s family.
