John Carlton Mason

Born on May 10, 1956, in Lynchburg, VA he was a son of the late Paul Glenwood Mason and Eunice Catherine Daniel Mason. John was a former Truck Operator for Counts and Dobyns and a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, which is now known as Jubilee Baptist Church.

John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, being in the woods, and taking care of animals. He was always taking in a stray that needed a home. John was also a former boy scout, which sparked his love for nature and hard work from a young age.

John’s memory will be cherished by his family. He leaves behind a daughter, Hannah Mason; three siblings, Anne Mason Laird (Delmar), David Mason (Linda) and Carol Mason Clemenson (Greg); and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will host a celebration of life for John at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Jubilee Baptist Church (216 Crews Shop Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24504) with Pastor Roger Childress officiating.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.
