

Born October 22, 1946 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Winfred Clayton Tillman and the late Mildred Lucille (Marie) Tillman Goff and foster son of the late Annie B. Klutz. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Willis Clayton Tillman. John was retired from B&W NNFD with thirty-seven years of service and also worked as a delivery driver with Advance Auto Parts for more than four years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of Rock Pike Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by two sons, John W. Tillman and wife Donna of Forest and George A. Tillman and wife Kimberly of Cleveland, TN; three grandsons, John-Morgan Killgo, James Dillion Tillman, and Vincent Tillman; two granddaughters, Michaela Tillman and Brittny Tillman; two sisters, Joyce Richmond and husband Larry of Madison Heights and Martha Tillman of Amherst and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2016 at Rock Pike Baptist Church with Pastor John Sines, Jr. and Pastor Sam Stump, Jr. officiating. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the residence (John and Rose’s).
