
Joseph Bernard Rice (JB), 75, of Rustburg, died, Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Born November 22, 1934, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Willie Austin Rice and Elsie Sandifer Rice.
Mr. Rice was a retired electrical engineer for American Electric Power. He also served our country for 20 years in the United States Army. Mr. Rice was also a 50 year member of the Mackey Masonic Lodge #69, a 50 year member of the Scottish Rite and a 40 year member for the Rustburg Chapter 23 Eastern Star.
Mr. Rice is survived by one sister, Joyce Stone of Rustburg; special family members including, James Brown of Lynchburg, Julie Banton and family of Forest and Carolyn and Ray Adams of Huddleston; and the love of his life – his Springer-Spaniel, Jackie.
A graveside service will be conducted, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Walter Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2010 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, where the Mackey Masonic Lodge will conduct the Masonic Rites Ceremony. The family will also receive friends at other times at the residence.
