He was the son of the late Joseph Dennis Wilkins, Sr. and Patricia Wortham Wilkins. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He leaves behind his mother, Patricia Wilkins of Lynchburg; his son, Joseph (Little Joe) Wilkins (Daisy); two grandchildren, Bryson Wilkins and Joella Wilkins all of Maryland; a great grandchild on the way; his sister, Laura Brown (Larry) of Amherst; his brother, Kenneth Wilkins (Kysa) of Alexandria; nieces, Jaime Justus (Chris), Melanie Mays (Jason), Katie Wilkins (AJ), Liz Cross (Paul), eight great nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be conducted on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel officiated by Pastor Phillip Campbell. Interment will follow the service at Presbyterian Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, starting at 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
