Judy is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Georgia Shelor and sister Betty McCanna.
She is survived by her three children, Tres Elliott (Robin), Chris Elliott (Karen), and Beth Ellikidis (Phil); her sister Becky Briddell (Jim); six grandchildren Carter, Winston, Sam, Isabel, Charlotte, and Alex; her brother-in-law, Clarence McCanna; niece, Kim McCanna and nephew, Tim McCanna and her God daughter, Christine Pickett.
She graduated from E.C. Glass High School and from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Immediately after high school, she attended Radford University and met her life-long friends (the “Radford Girls”) before leaving school for familial reasons.
She was a lifelong caregiver and put her family first (often forgetting her own needs in place of others). She was a devoted daughter, mother, and grandmother.
Judy was a runner, volunteer, environmentalist, animal lover, and politico. She held a Certified Nursing Assistant’s License and was a caregiver at Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg and to her mother.
Her friends recount her as someone who was there whenever she was needed. She loved bluegrass music, Elvis and enjoyed dancing at Floyd Fest or the Floyd Country Store in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and also enjoyed shag dancing with her friends at Myrtle Beach.
Judy’s three children would like to thank the many people who helped care for her over the past six years: Robin Elliott, Cyndi Sanders, Patrick Daly, the staff at Runk & Pratt Pearls of Life, friends that kept in touch throughout the years and so many others.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 at White’s United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Becky Cloud officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
