

Judy Carol Crews, 61, of Lynchburg, died, Saturday, May 07, 2011, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of John Carroll Crews. She was born December 21, 1949, to the late Kyle Helton and Doris Poore Helton.
Judy was a retired human rights advocate for Central Virginia Training Center, where she worked for 33 years. She was an advocate for individuals with disabilities. She was also a member of the Disciples of Christ Church. Judy loved to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed going camping and loved caring for her cats.
In addition to her husband, Judy is survived by one daughter, January Crews-Sanchez and her husband Alexis of Lynchburg; two brothers, Gene Helton of Arkansas and Kenneth Helton of Tennessee; one sister, Brenda Story of South Carolina; her mother-in-law, M. Helen Crews; and two grandchildren, Afton Sanchez and Jonathan Sanchez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel conducted by the Rev. Cathy Montgomery.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
