
June B. Bagwell, 84, of Troutville, died, Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Lockman Bagwell. Born July 8, 1927, in Asheville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rex Duard Ballard and the late Sue Rhea Ballard West.
A resident of Asheville, NC, Spartanburg, SC, Charlotte, NC, Newport News, VA, Roanoke, VA, and Troutville, VA, June moved wherever her husband's work took them. June always made a happy and loving home for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a devout Christian and a member of Bonsack United Methodist Church. She stressed higher education, was a fabulous cook and was an inspiration to her family. June held various banking, bookkeeping and clerical positions. Her final position was an administrative assistant at First Baptist Church of Roanoke.
June is survived by one daughter, Rev. Joy Bagwell of Newtown Square, PA, one son, John Bagwell and his wife Ginger of Forest, VA; one sister, Evelyn Ballard Jones of Johnson City, TN; one brother, R.D. Ballard and his wife Betty of Cary, NC; two grandchildren, Eric Bagwell and Jamie Bagwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, November 29, 2011, 6-8 p.m., at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA. The family will receive friends again Wednesday morning, November 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Bonsack United Methodist Church, 4493 Bonsack Rd., Roanoke VA, 24012-7009, (540) 977-4212.
A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 30 at Bonsack Church, with Rev. Tim Tate and Rev. Janet Hess officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke.
