Keith Preston Spencer

Born in Lynchburg on January 17, 1958, he was the son of the late Vernon Preston Spencer and Betty Wade Spencer.

Keith was born and raised in Lynchburg and later made Richmond his home for much of his adult life. In recent years, he returned to Lynchburg, where he truly felt at home. Growing up he was active in Boy Scouts and youth sports continuing that passion into high school football and later as a college track and field athlete competing in shot put and discus.

He was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School and attended Lees-MacRae College in Banner Elk, NC and Lynchburg College. A man of many talents and interests, throughout his working career Keith held positions in sales and customer service as well as being an entrepreneur launching and running two successful small businesses. Additionally, he held the position of Administrator for the Moose Lodge where he was a loyal and active member for many years.

An avid golfer and devoted sports fan, Keith rarely missed an opportunity to watch a game, match, or tournament. Whether it was golf, soccer, football, or college basketball, he always enjoyed following his favorite teams and athletes. Through the fellowship of the Moose Lodge and its members, he formed lasting friendships and an enduring sense of community, service and charity. Keith had a lifelong love of southern rock music, Tennessee football, NASCAR racing and cooking for his family and friends. He will be remembered for his love of and dedication to his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Casey Talastas and her husband, Darrell; his beloved grandson, Ezra of Laurel, Maryland; two sisters, Kristie Spencer of Charlottesville, Virginia and Kellie Huyard of Richmond, Virginia; and one brother, D. Kent Spencer and wife Mary of Lynchburg, Virginia: and four nieces and nephews.

Memorial service information will be announced at a later date.
