Marian Agnes Anderson

Marian was born on March 5, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, to Lucy and Hugo Kosel. She grew up in the Methodist Church and later attended Forest Glen Baptist Church in Chicago for many years.

On August 16, 1947, Marian married the love of her life, Weston John Anderson, who preceded her in death in September 1999. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared a life filled with love, faith, family, friends, and hospitality.

Marian and Weston were blessed with six children: Carol Jorgensen, Dr. Laurence Anderson (Nancy), Joy Rice (Tom), Gail Levin (Blake), Brian Anderson (Joanne), and Jayne Taylor (Ken). Marian was also blessed with 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Kevin, who passed away in July 1991, and her sister, Louise, who passed away in June 2021.

Marian's faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She believed in Jesus as her Lord and Savior, and her favorite Bible passage was Romans 8:38-39:

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Those words beautifully reflect the faith that carried Marian throughout her long and remarkable life. Marian loved her family and friends and had a true gift for hospitality. Her home was a place where everyone was welcome. Sunday dinner was rarely just for the family. There was always room for one more person at the table. If someone unexpected arrived, Marian's answer was simple:

"Just add another potato in the pot."

That little phrase said so much about who she was. There was always room for another person, another plate, another conversation, and another place at her table.

She especially enjoyed celebrating Christmas surrounded by family and friends, with good food, laughter, and a home full of people she loved. Her greatest joy was not simply having a beautiful home, but filling it with people and making them feel loved and welcomed.

Her family is deeply grateful for the 102 years they were blessed to have Marian in their lives. They are especially thankful that they were able to care for her and be with her during her final days.

Marian leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, family, generosity, and hospitality that will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched.

Mom, we are so blessed to have had you in our lives for so many years. We will carry your love, your faith, your laughter, and your example with us always.

We love you, Mom. Your legacy will live on.
