Mary Marlene Harris Mitchell, Age 67, of Evington, stepped through the veil into paradise to be with her Lord on October 17, 2021. Marlene was preceded in death by her mother, Gaynell W. Harris, her father, Chapman J. Harris, her mother-in-law, Margaret M. Mitchell, her father-in-law, Charles E. Mitchell, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her youngest son Stewart Cory Mitchell, and her adopted son Caleb Prettyman Brown, whom she missed dearly.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor Stewart W. Mitchell, her daughter, Sara M. Hall (Richard), her son Brandon M. Mitchell, her two sisters, Cheryl H. Adams (Paul), Wendi H. Bell (Rickey), one brother C. Wayne Harris (Judy). Marlene is also survived by her four granddaughters who were the light of her life. Mary Lauren Hall, Caitlin Ann Hall, Makayla Elizabeth Mitchell, and Delany Coryn Mitchell and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special fur babies, Puddy, Sadie Mae, and Levi.
Marlene had the ability to make anyone laugh, sometimes at the most inopportune moment. She will always be remembered by the way she lit up a room. She and Stewart touched many lives through their music and their harmony will forever be ingrained in our hearts.
She and her husband Stewart were married for 47 years and had a love story for the ages. She instilled the love of God in her children and grandchildren and always said to count your blessings.
Throughout her various illnesses she never wavered in her faith, and would say I’m not worried, God has this.
She was a beautiful wife, mom and nana and will be missed terribly but we rejoice in knowing she is in heaven and we were so blessed by God with her presence in our everyday lives. We will love her forever.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation from 12:00 – 1:00, prior to the service at Living Water Ministries, 1071 Waterlick Road, Lynchburg, Va. 24501 with Pastor Mac Almond and Pastor Rickey Scott officiating.
