I knew Martha when she worked at the switchboard at LBC. I would sub (worked in the Dean of Women's office) for her when she went to lunch. She also taught me how to cross stitch. I also remember her talking about with so many children and so much to do, when she brushed her teeth, she would scrub her toilet with the cleaner to save time. Trying to save time doing two things at one time.

Oh, how we loved Martha (and Gil). There are so many warm and cherished memories of our time with them at the old Thomas Road Baptist Church!
Martha was one of the most loving people we have ever met...always kind and caring of others. And what a great cook she was!
She has left us...but we will see her again! So thankful for her life and for the promise of heaven....our prayers are with you all.

I'm so sorry for this tremendous loss. I am happy I got to know Martha and her daughter Melanie. I had the honor of calling Martha "Mom" and met "Dad" later. I really loved those two being such a positive example of love to a very young girl like me. I went to college and Mom gave me her recipe for her cinnamon rolls. I still have the recipe book that was given to me by Nita at Red Lobster and some of Mom's recipes. Thank you so much for accepting me into your family and sharing all the love. I am sending sunshine from Florida and all my love.

I have known the Brightsen family for 35 plus years. I was a co-laborer with Gil for many of those years. I was the recipient of Martha's cooking many times every week. Martha was an unsung hero to our TRBC senior saints Ministry . She was tireless in the pursuit of making sure people had all that they needed. She is now home and whole and walking streets of gold with Gil and Jesus. Martha you will be missed but one day we shall all be together again.
