Mary Bruce Coolidge Coolidge Arthur

Mary Bruce Coolidge Arthur, 66, of Rustburg, passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at the U.V.A. Medical Center in Charlottesville after a brief illness. She was the wife of Charles B. “Bennie” Arthur.

Born December 26, 1949 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Neadham Coolidge and Mary Eubank Coolidge. Mary Bruce was retired from the Virginia Department of Social Services. She was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School and Mary Washington College and received her M.B.A. from Lynchburg College. She was of Baptist Faith.

In addition to her husband, Mary Bruce is survived by her son, Ben Arthur of Los Angeles, CA.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Jack Davis and the Rev. Bob Winston officiating. Interment will follow at Cumbie Memorial Cemetery in Rustburg.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2016 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Mary Bruce loved all types of wildlife. She was especially fond of cats and dogs and will be missed by Willi, her big German Shepherd and Rusty her cat.
