The Rev. Mary Elizabeth Jackson Jackson Dodson

The Rev. Mary Elizabeth Jackson Dodson, 95, of Altavista, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at her residence. She was the loving and devoted wife of the Rev. Henry Kenneth Dodson, Sr.

Born September 14, 1920 in Halifax, VA, she was the daughter of the late Edward D. and Martha Walker Jackson and was also preceded in death by three sons, Bennie and Kenny and an infant son. Rev. Dodson was a retired Pastor of Home Mission Outreach and was a charter member of Tree of Life Ministries.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Pastor J. Mike Dodson and wife Debie of Lynchburg; her daughter, Dr. Nancy Dodson Bennett, Sr. Pastor of Tabernacle of Praise in Florida and her husband Dan; six grandchildren, Lisa, Todd, Michael, Jr., Candace, Nanci, and Beau and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Tree of Life Ministries with Pastor J. Mike Dodson and the Rev. Dr. Nancy Dodson Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Tree of Life Cemetery in Altavista.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 22, 2016 at the church and other times at the residence.
