Obituary of Mary Floyd Grant
Mary Floyd Grant, 91, of Lynchburg passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Westminster Canterbury. She was the wife of the late Charles Robert Grant. Born June 6, 1926, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Mae Floyd and the late Eliza Jane Martin Floyd. Mary was a retired line worker for ITW-Paktron and was a charter member of Thomas Road Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 50 plus years and was a member of the choir. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by one son, Charles Grant; and five siblings, Warren Floyd, Arthur Floyd, Irene Staton, Nora E. Floyd and Rosa Vest. Mary is survived by her son, Owen W. Grant (Deborah) of Harrison, TN; two siblings, Henry L. Floyd of Madison Heights and Edith J. Millner of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Dwayne Grant (Amy), Jennifer Steppe (Lewis), Patricia Ragland (Brian), Robert Grant and Matthew Grant; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2018, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Lynchburg Dialysis Center.
