Mary Stinson Mawyer

Mary Alphie Stinson Mawyer, 90, of Evington passed away, Sunday, October 6, 2013, at the Liberty Ridge Nursing Home. Born January 15, 1923, in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late John David Stinson and the late Charity Langley Stinson.

Mrs. Mawyer was a homemaker, and a member of Tree of Life Ministries. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mawyer was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

Mrs. Mawyer is survived by her children Thurman E. Mawyer, Jr. (Donna) of Lynchburg, Calvin C. Mawyer (Eva) of Lynchburg, Thomas W. Mawyer of Evington, John E. Mawyer (Evelyn) of Staunton, Mary Jane Ayers (Leroy) of Rustburg and Della Mae Womack (Eddie Staton) of Rustburg; one sister, Della Hebert of Richmond; fifteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted, 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Stewart Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
