OBITUARY
Mary Theresa Perkins
January 14, 1928 – December 31, 2020
Mary Theresa Perkins, 92, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020 at Lynchburg General Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born January 14, 1928 in Amherst, VA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Mattie Campbell Perkins. Theresa retired as an executive secretary from Consolidated Shoe Company and was an active member of Park View United Methodist Church. Shortly after her retirement, she volunteered to be the secretary for not only the church, but also for Park View Community Mission. Her efforts during the beginnings of this food ministry helped ensure its success in the Lynchburg community. After the church closed, she moved her membership to Fairview United Methodist Church. Even though Theresa was not able to attend church in person these past few months, she enjoyed connecting with the church service via Zoom every Sunday and will be deeply missed by her faith-family and friends. Theresa enjoyed reminiscing about family history, traveling, and eating out at local restaurants with friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Thomas Henry Perkins, Jr and sister, Marguerite Kathryn Perkins. A graveside service will be held on January 15, 2021 at 11:00 am at Presbyterian Cemetery with Rev. Phil Showers officiating.
When attending services, please maintain social distancing and wear a mask for everyone’s safety. You are encouraged to post a memory, note, or words of condolence to the family by going to the funeral home website at www.whittentimberlake.com.

Theresa was kind, compassionate, loving person. When we couldn't see each other we talked on the phone every week. I will truly miss my wonderful friend. She is a beautiful angel.

I am going to miss my cousin, she was such a sweet person and I enjoyed getting together going out to eat, talking about our Family history, I loved the pictures she gave me of our relatives-we always talked on the phone! She was such a Christian and had a kind heart-she always took care of her family members that were sick and loved her church , and loved working her job -she lived a long life and gave so much to others! She is with her family now!
